A LETTER FROM CHRISSY

Hi, welcome to my studio.
I’m so glad you’re here. Painting has become a true passion of mine, though my path to art was anything but linear. I have always been creative, but like many people, it took time and life experience to find the form that truly felt like home. Creativity has always been part of who I am. Painting is simply where it finally landed.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts from SMU, where I built my foundation in graphic design, photography, and visual storytelling. After the loss of our dad and the outpouring of condolence cards that followed, my sister and I started a stationery line together. I designed invitations, greeting cards, and paper goods, and that chapter became deeply meaningful. It allowed us to work side by side, stay connected as a family, and create something rooted in both emotion and purpose, while also teaching me how to run a small business.
I found my way back to painting while pregnant with my youngest of three boys under three. What began as a quiet creative outlet during early motherhood quickly became something I knew I needed to pursue. Painting naturally evolved from a hobby into a career.
Over time, that spark grew into a full time practice. Today, my studio is filled with works in progress, each one evolving slowly through layers of color, texture, and instinct. I believe art should never be rushed. I often live with pieces in my own home, moving them from room to room, watching how they shift in different light and spaces, until I know they feel complete. My work is created with the home in mind, how a piece picks up the tones of a room, reflects the personality of the people who live there, and quietly brings everything together.
Color is at the heart of everything I make. What may appear as a single shade often holds dozens of colors beneath the surface, revealed only when you get close. That depth comes from time, patience, and a layered process that allows each piece to unfold naturally rather than forcing a final result. I love the idea that my work continues to reveal itself the longer you live with it.

Travel plays a meaningful role in how I see the world and how I use color. Being in new places makes me feel free and alive, and I return home creatively charged each time. I’m constantly inspired by architecture, landscapes, textiles, and the unexpected color combinations found in everyday life. Those impressions inevitably find their way into my work.
At the heart of everything I create is joy, curiosity, and connection. The greatest reward for me is watching a client connect with a piece and seeing their space come to life around it. My hope is that my art makes you pause, feel something, and feel at home. Art should grow with you, move with you, and live alongside the life you are building.
Thank you for being here and for allowing my work to become part of your story.
With love,
Chrissy
